The Compliance Analyst reports to the Director of Compliance and will perform several services, to include audits of patient medical records, coding and billing, as well as audits and reviews of other compliance-related areas such as HIPAA and OSHA. The Compliance Analyst will prepare detailed reports and feedback on these audits, identify trends across the organization, and assist with the preparation of company-wide education and policies.
Salary Range
$80-85,000/year, depending on experience
DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform audits of patient documentation, coding and billing. Will be adept at comparing medical record documentation, code assignments and charges in the financial system for accuracy and completeness.
Create clear and thorough audit reports, providing findings and recommendations in a usable and actionable format to both management and clinicians.
Report and investigate potential compliance problems, provide education and feedback, and mitigate potential future risks.
Perform additional compliance audits on other areas, to include HIPAA privacy and security, OSHA, and due diligence assessments of potential partnerships.
Assist in creating, updating, implementing, and training on new policies consistent with regulatory changes and the company’s values.
Education And Experience
High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
AAPC or AHIMA (CCS, CPC, RHIT or RHIA) certification preferred.
At least three (3) years’ experience in medical or dental coding (dental preferred).
At least one (1) year experience auditing healthcare billing & coding preferred.
Skills
An in-depth understanding of dental and medical terminology, including CDT codes.
An in-depth understanding of the medical billing process.
The ability to perform detailed analysis of medical treatment that is coded and billed for payment.
Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid and other regulatory areas.
Must be detailed oriented and analytical, and have the ability to work both independently and with individuals in managerial and staff level positions.
Knowledge of healthcare related regulations, as well as standards from regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations.
Intermediate knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Electronic Medical Records and Practice Management Systems.
Excellent organizational and project management skills (ability to multi-task, produce rapid turnaround with deadlines met, and effectively manage multiple projects).
