Summary

Looking for a new adventure? You’ve come to the right place.

We're an Amsterdam-based team of 75+ (and counting) with 25+ nationalities amongst us! A varied bunch of Citizens of The World with a wide range of skills and hundreds of thousands of kilometers under our travel belts. And we have something important in common (other than our very well-worn passports): we want to change the way people travel.

And that's exactly what we're doing, with the travel app to plan, track, and relive trips in a smart and beautiful way.

Polarsteps has over 14 million users already, but, for us, this is just the beginning. We have big plans for the future, and so we need even more talented and enthusiastic people to help us on our journey.

Want to know more about us? Here you go.

Your expedition: join our Community & Support team at Polarsteps

We’re a small team, doing big things.

If you haven't seen our app yet, go ahead and check it out. You'll see that we care (a lot) about providing our users with a top-notch experience every step of the way — whether it is helping them to map out their upcoming adventure, troubleshooting whilst on the road or offering tips and trips when they are back and creating their Travel Book. For a Community & Support Specialist, this means working with users who love Polarsteps and love to share their adventures with loved ones.

As a support team we:

  • Are dedicated to our community of users.
  • Lean on our experience as explorers to know what our travelers need.
  • Like to do good and have fun while doing it.
  • Remain human, speaking like ourselves (we’re human and not AI!) in order to create genuine relationships with our community.

We’re looking for a student who is studying in Amsterdam to join us for flexible hours each week. This is a chance to see close-up what life in a startup/scaleup is like, and to join a team building one of world’s most ambitious consumer brands. This will provide valuable experience and insight for anyone who wants to go into tech/startup life. In 10 years, we think you’ll be proud to say you worked at Polarsteps back when it was just taking off and was under 100 people.

Your itinerary

What your journey at Polarsteps will look like day-to-day.

  • We’d love you to join us for 8-16 hours a week (with the options for more in peak periods, if you’d like to!).
  • You’ll visit our Amsterdam office once a week for a few hours with the wider Community and Support team - otherwise, the hours will be very flexible, and can be evenings/weekends if you prefer.
  • Together with the rest of the Community & Support team, you will manage user questions and feedback, helping with queries about our Travel Books & Gift Cards (mainly via email).
  • You will also build a trusting relationship with our communities across all social platforms and app stores by offering a helping hand when needed.
  • You will pinpoint, investigate, and escalate (when necessary) the issues our users report to us to the Product & Tech teams.
  • Internally, you will be part of representing our users' voice — communicating their feedback not only to our development team but also to the the rest of the company.

The equipment in your backpack

What we’re hoping you’ll bring with you.

  • Ability to manage 8-16 hours per week alongside your studies.
  • A love for travel. You don’t have to have travelled widely, but you need to love exploring, discovering and adventuring in the world.
  • Fluency in English and native fluency in French.
  • Outstanding written communication skills.
  • Great collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Being proactive, solution-oriented, and a fast learner.
  • Ability to work quickly, with high attention to detail.

Bonus points for:

  • If you are fluent in additional languages, such as Dutch or German.
  • An understanding of how our product works (ideally by already using our app).

What we’ll offer you:

  • A nice salary, based on the number of hours you've helped our C&S team.
  • The option to join our Polarsteps team sessions and events, including internal strategy meetings/team gatherings - this will give you an insight into life at a fast-growing European tech scaleup.
  • Monthly socials with our team if you’d like to join them.
  • A discount for your own Polarsteps travel book every 6 months to relive your adventures.

At Polarsteps, we believe the best products are built by people as diverse as the travelers using our apps! That's why we specifically encourage people underrepresented in the tech industry to apply for a role with us. Because we believe that diversity — be it age, race, sexual orientation, physical ability, ethnicity, or gender identity — makes both the world and the workplace better.
