Description
We are looking for an experienced Community Recreation Manager to oversee recreational programs, events, and facility operations in Malibu, California. This long-term contract position requires a proactive leader with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing staff and ensuring compliance with city policies. Ideal candidates will have a background in recreation programming, facility management, and public engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement recreational programs and special events that meet community needs and interests.
- Supervise and provide guidance to both permanent and part-time staff, ensuring effective teamwork and performance.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of recreational facilities, ensuring safety standards and maintenance requirements are met.
- Educate staff and the public on city policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and understanding.
- Create detailed reports and tracking documents for management review and decision-making.
- Collaborate with city officials and community stakeholders to enhance program offerings and services.
- Monitor budgets and oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Utilize software systems such as CRM, ADP, and Concur to streamline operations and reporting.
- Address public inquiries and provide clear, effective communication to resolve concerns.
- Ensure all recreational activities adhere to safety regulations and city standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in recreation programming, event facilitation, and facility management.
- Proven ability to supervise and manage both permanent and part-time employees.
- Strong knowledge of city policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems, including ADP, Concur, and CRM.
- Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff and the public effectively.
- Ability to create reports, track data, and present findings to management.
- Familiarity with software tools like Dentrix Dental Software and About Time is a plus.
