Communications Coordinator

We’re hiring a Communications Coordinator to help us inform and engage our teams and customers at Day & Ross, a wholly owned subsidiary of McCain Foods. You’ll be responsible for writing content for our intranet, internal announcements, and social media as our company grows and evolves. We’re looking for a great writer who’s passionate about workplace culture, has a creative eye, and understands the power of communication to make a difference. How You'll Help
- Contribute ideas for content and look for opportunities to engage our employees through creative communications.
- Write stories for our intranet and establish relationships across the company to source new content.
- Keep our editorial calendar up to date, anticipating recurring themes and holidays and capturing any strategic direction.
- Develop engaging content for social media platforms and provide support in developing and managing Facebook advertisements to further our recruiting efforts.
- Act as community manager for our social media channels, monitoring for comments, mentions, and sharable content, managing our Facebook inbox, and labeling messages for relevant teams to respond.
- Provide support in drafting organizational announcements to keep our employees up to date on business news.
- Manage day-to-day project intake and oversee our shared mailbox, ensuring communications requests are assigned to the right team member and moved into production.
- Proofread and distribute internal communications and ensure accuracy of key distribution lists.
- Build, format, and distribute our employee newsletter, and look for opportunities to improve our process.
- Manage file uploads to our intranet and organize all marketing assets and project files on our team drive, overseeing naming conventions for consistency and clarity.
- Provide administrative support in managing merch requests, processing team invoices, and other duties as required.
Your Skills & Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in a communications role.
- A university degree or college diploma.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone to suit brand voice.
- An eye for design and ability to provide input on creative graphics.
- A high comfort level with embracing new technology.
- Enthusiasm for finding effective ways to engage employees and create an exceptional workplace culture.
- Experience managing competing priorities and team projects.
- A self-starter with great resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to put your hand up and try new things.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 360 and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is an asset.
