The City of Beaverton is seeking a creative and strategic communicator to implement and manage a citywide strategic and community engagement program. The Community Engagement and Communications (CEC) Division Manager will collaborate closely with the city's executive leadership and colleagues across all departments to deliver accurate, relevant, and engaging information to the Beaverton community and support the City Council's vision and priorities.
The CEC Division Manager will serve as the City's primary Public Information Officer, ensuring clear and efficient communication of information and ideas to the community through diverse communication channels. We are looking for someone who is a capable storyteller, enjoys building relationships and developing solutions to complex problems, and is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for engagement across the city. The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of communications best practices and extensive experience designing and implementing engagement programs and plans. * Lead a comprehensive, organization-wide communications and community engagement program, developing and implementing policies, procedures, processes and methods that are aligned with the city's strategic priorities.
* Develop, plan, and implement strategies and program to deliver effective communication and public engagement, and serve as the lead strategist or project manager on complex communication and public engagement projects.
* Oversee operations of the Community Engagement and Communications Division, including budget management, staff supervision, and ensuring administrative compliance.
* Serve as the city's primary Public Information Officer. Lead communication response to local emergencies, in collaboration with the city's Emergency Management program.
* Manage the city's branding program and ensure brand consistency and alignment across all communications.
* Act as the primary liaison to city leadership and cultivate strong relationships with internal and external partners to provide advice and consultation on communication strategies, creating opportunities for collaboration.
* Partner with community groups and other organizations.
* Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.

Minimum qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, marketing, public information, or a related field, and
* Six years of experience managing communications and/or public engagement programs; including
* Three years of supervisory or management experience; or
* An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Wage range: $9,621.71 - $12,894.88 monthly
The City of Beaverton determines starting wage based on the years of experience on the job application that are directly related to the job description and posting. Typically, placement at Step 1 corresponds to meeting the minimum required years of directly-related experience. Additional years of related experience may result in placement at a higher step within the posted salary range.
