Summary

Familiar with accessing and reviewing the on-line court dockets in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia, and retrieving requested information from the docket


Has a thorough understanding of how to file court pleadings electronically in the State, Federal, and Bankruptcy Courts in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia


Experienced in completing and filing Failure to Pay Rent Complaints


Proficient with securing military affidavits from the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) website


Experienced in contacting the various clerk offices in the local jurisdictions


Familiar and/or has prior experience in organizing trial exhibits and indexes


Experienced in preparing and filing the Court forms that are used in the General District Courts for the Commonwealth Virginia and the District Courts for the State of Maryland.


Experienced in maintaining and updating the in-office Court Docket


Proficient in drafting affidavits in support of requests for attorneys fees


Experienced in preparing court pleadings for purposes of collecting on judgments


Proficient in using the UCC to conduct searches on property located in leased premises


Familiar with obtaining relevant information on corporate entities from the state agencies regarding registered agents, corporate status, officers and directors, and other information maintained by the state agencies.


Familiar with commercial leases and the various rental components in commercial leases


Familiar and/or has prior experience in reviewing and understanding account statements generated by management companies


Experience conducting ESI discovery would be a “plus”


The candidate must also be able to:


Independently monitor and meet project deadlines


Perform all assignments in strict compliance with ethical guidelines governing the practice of law


Possess impeccable attention to detail and analytical skills


Operate as an initiative-taker with strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills, and


Use initiative and discretion in accomplishing routine assignments with minimum supervision


Qualifications


4+ years of experience as a legal litigation assistant in a commercial real estate practice or any combination of training education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position


Strong organizational and writing skills


Proficient in: Office 365 (especially Word and Excel); IManage or similar document management software; Adobe; Microsoft Teams; Zoom; PDF Docs
