Position Overview

As a Scheduling Manager, you will use your keen attention to detail to oversee and manage project timelines, ensuring that all activities are scheduled efficiently and executed on time. This role is vital for coordinating and monitoring the various phases of construction projects, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions to keep schedules on track.

The Scheduling Manager will manage other schedulers while collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful and timely completion of client projects. This role is client facing, and greatly influences client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

PROJECT SCHEDULE DEVELOPMENT: Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for construction projects using industry-standard software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).

COLLABORATION AND ALIGNMENT: Interface with project managers, superintendents , and contractors to create realistic schedules that align with project requirements, budgets, and deadlines.

PROGRESS MONITORING: Oversee project progress and adjust schedules as needed to mitigate delays, conflicts, or unforeseen issues.

SCHEDULE REVIEWS AND RISK ASSESSMENT: Conduct regular schedule updates and review with project teams to discuss progress, upcoming milestones, and potential risks.

CRITICAL PATH ANALYSIS: Provide critical path analysis and highlight any schedule risks or delays that could affect the project timeline.

STATUS REPORTING: Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders, outlining schedule performance, milestones, and any changes.

SUBCONTRACTOR COORDINATION: Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure that deliveries, work schedules, and inspections are aligned with the project timeline.

ISSUE RESOLUTION: Identify schedule-related issues and work proactively with teams to resolve them before they impact project deadlines.

DOCUMENTATION MANAGEMENT: Ensure proper documentation of all scheduling-related activities, including change orders, delays, and adjustments.

RESOURCE ALLOCATION AND FORECASTING: Assist in optimizing project efficiency by providing schedule forecasts and assisting with resource allocation.

SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the construction process.

TRAINING AND MENTORSHIP: Train and mentor Schedulers in best processes and practices and software use.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction scheduling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles, practices, and processes.

  • Proven expertise in client management and relationship-building across functions and levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and mitigate scheduling conflicts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and management: strong skills in managing and developing others.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, terminology, and regulatory requirements.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work in both office and construction site environments.
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings or weekends, if necessary to meet project deadlines.
