About the Job
The College Readiness Consortium (CRC) was created at the University of Minnesota (UMN) with the stated purpose to engage with K-12 educators, youth workers and UMN programs to increase the number and diversity of students who graduate from high school ready for success in college and careers.
College and career readiness involves preparing all P-12 students to understand the importance of postsecondary education for their future, explore career fields and related preparation requirements, know the range of postsecondary options, and develop needed financial, social, and emotional skills. This process engages students more fully in middle and high school as they see the connection to their future, and increases the likelihood of earning a postsecondary degree or certificate.
Located within UMN's Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE), the CRC also strives to promote the pillars of academic excellence identified in the System Enrollment Management (SEM) Report:
* Access - ensuring access to education, opportunities, support and resources
* Affordability - balancing costs of college with a mindfulness toward student indebtedness
* Diversity - Being attentive to race, ethnicity, first-generation and low income students characteristics while closing opportunity gaps
* Gaps - Highlighting approaches to national and international recruitment, along with our service to the state of Minnesota
* Student Success - Centering student outcomes and goals in our efforts
