Summary

COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST

Monday - Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm with 2 days per month working from 10am to 6:30pm. This position is onsite - not remote.

Job Summary

The Collections Specialist will report to the Collections Manager and SVP, Financial Services. The position will be spending around 85% of their day making outbound calls to active students who are past due on their accounts. We estimate a total of 40 to 50 outbound calls will be made per day. We have experienced co-workers on this team who will help you with training, but you must be a person who looks forward to getting on the phone and working with students.

The remaining 15% of the collection specialist’s job duties will entail taking inbound phone calls for student payments and other requests. Customer service is a huge component of this position.

Administrative tasks are required periodically such as assembling, producing, copying, and mailing various student documents. Retrieving select documents from our student management system for use in weekly projects and mailings. Following up on missing data or forms. Supporting the rest of the team with tasks as assigned.

  • This is a full time hourly position with full benefits, paid holidays, ATO accrual, and 401k.
  • Our payroll is monthly (paid once a month on the last business day of the month)

Requirements

  • Preference will be given for those with previous collection experience.
  • Strong data entry skills necessary, with excellent speed and accuracy
  • Customer service focused – able to communicate effectively on the telephone
  • Ability to focus on repetitive tasks
  • Experience with MS Office, internet and email.
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Must be a team player and be able to effectively interact with other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate professional manner, dress and conduct as a representative of Ross
  • Adherence to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics
  • Must have sufficient ability to move around the building
  • Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials
  • Reference and background check required for employment
  • Protection of student and/or employee privacy is expected in the handling of confidential and/or financial information
  • Protection of the corporation and privacy of corporate proprietary and confidential information is expected
  • Professional communication encompasses written, oral, visual and digital communication
  • Successful communication skills are required for working at Ross and involve the following: writing, reading, editing, speaking, listening, software applications, data entry and reporting, and Internet research.
