Summary

Location: Primarily Remote (1x/month in-office, occasional on-site physician meetings with advance notice)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible start time (7 or 8 AM), consistent weekly schedule required


Position Overview

The educator plays a vital role in supporting compliant documentation, coding, and billing practices for providers across the health system. This role involves educating physicians, residents, advanced practice providers (APPs), and billing staff on federal, state, and payer requirements.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, experienced educator with strong auditing skills and a positive, proactive approach to working with clinical and administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on billing and documentation compliance.
  • Conduct annual provider reviews and monthly audits (approx. 400 accounts/month).
  • Provide one-on-one and group training sessions using classroom, web-based, and observational methods.
  • Collaborate with Billing Quality Councils, providing regulatory and technical expertise.
  • Present audit findings and recommendations to clinical departments and leadership.
  • Act as a liaison between providers and coders, answering questions and resolving documentation issues.
  • Develop and implement Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs.
  • Create and deliver educational presentations for clinical faculty and billing staff.
  • Participate in division meetings (remote or in-person as needed).
  • Take on special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Role Scope

  • Ratio: 1 educator per 125–130 providers
  • Volume: Educate/support 20+ providers per month
  • Expected to engage with NPs, APPs, MDs, and coding staff regularly

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience (10+ preferred)
  • Strong background in education and training delivery
  • CCS-P or CPC certification
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in EPIC and MDAudit (or similar auditing software)

Preferred Experience

  • Specialty expertise in: Cardiology (highly preferred), Neurology, General Surgery, Plastics, Urology, Radiology
  • Auditing experience across diagnostic and surgical specialties
