Job Overview
The Trauma Coding Quality Coordinator I is accountable for the collection, completion, and verification of the accuracy of all patient data collected from Deaconess Hospital and the Trauma Registry data collection system. This position is crucial to the implementation of quality assurance and improvement issues by serving as the foundation of the Trauma Services Department. The coordinator creates and maintains clinical and statistical data, AIS coding, ICD9CM codes and abstracts various data elements required by The American College of Surgeons, the state of Illinois, and Deaconess Hospital. The coordinator will provide data collection / statistics from the trauma registry to the Trauma Outreach Coordinator to base injury prevention and community education. This position is held accountable by the standards of the trauma registry and reports directly to the Trauma Program Manager.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in medical records terminology or a related field. Patient care experience desired. Employee must learn duties in 3-12 months. One to two years of related work experience in a medical records office is preferred. Requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding systems, anatomy and physiology.
