Summary : Job Profile Summary Leads the professional coding and auditing team daily operations, including production, quality, internal audits, and provider coding education. Manager assures the quality of service by maintaining current knowledge of family practice and specialty professional coding, quality initiatives, data collection and reporting, professional coding systems, and state and federal compliance requirements. Manager effectively communicates and implements best practices in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Manages daily operations of the assigned area which includes all administrative, fiscal and clinical/technical activities to ensure high quality and financial output. Job Description: Key Accountabilities: Evaluates and determines the integrity of coding controls and revenue generation is maintained at the highest possible level. Manages department expenses to meet or exceed budget expectations. Collaborates with CIN operational leaders and relevant committees to ensure CIN practices are standardized and consistent with regulatory requirements and internal policies, research and resolve complaints, provide revenue cycle data feedback, and consult on new service lines from a coding and revenue perspective. Develops, maintains, and, monitors training and educational programs to ensure alignment with system and department goals and, regulatory changes. Ensures all coders are trained and regularly informed of external and internal updates to ensure accurate, clear and concise communication with providers and operations. Establishes, implements, and maintains a formalized review process for coding compliance, including a formal review (audit) process; designs and uses audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding. Develops performance expectations, coaches, evaluates, and motivates team members; investigates complaints and performance concerns. Accountable for overall divisional hiring, performance management, payroll and payroll practices to ensure alignment with organizational philosophies. Stays abreast of regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate development of policies and procedures. Qualifications: Five years leadership including leading work teams and/or projects is required. Three years of Clinical Coding/Auditing leadership is required. National level clinic coding certification is required; Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare is preferred. Physical Demands: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties Work Environment: Normally works in climate controlled office environment Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space Use of computers throughout the work day Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
