Summary

Summary/Objective The Coding Coordinator is a working Coordinator role responsible for supervising the coding department and its team, as well as coding for a set group of providers. The Coding Coordinator is also responsible for posting or reviewing all charges for the company. The Coding Coordinator must be able to analyze operative reports and code appropriately. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Review and approve timecards for all members of the department for payroll. Review and approve or deny time off requests. Complete department employee evaluations and discussions. Assist with employee disciplinary meetings as needed. Assign coverage for members of the department when they are out of the office. Assist with answering all employee questions from the department. Assist with completing audits of department staff to ensure compliance with OrthoSC policies and procedures. Provide coverage for department staff when needed. Assist with review of ICD-10 and CPT coding changes annually. Department employee education and training, to include training new hires and all coding updates. Meet with department regularly to discuss new developments and any concerns. Understand and abide by all coding and billing compliance regulations, as well as government regulations. Answer all questions coming from other departments (clinical staff, prior authorization, and billing departments). Communicate with the Director of Revenue Cycle in regards to any issues or concerns as they arise. Assist with reviewing reports on department performance. Assist with setting and achieving department goals. Assist with coding education of clinical staff and scribes. Ability to post all surgery charges, review and code from operative reports when needed. Ability to post all hospital consults, admissions, discharges, and follow-ups when needed. Ability to add notes regarding global/after care to patient charts when needed. Ability to review daily charges and documentation and create claims when needed. Ability to correct modifiers, CPT, diagnosis, HCPCS codes on claims when needed. Assist with any appeals or denials when needed. Sort and file all documents that flow into coding and hospital buckets when needed. Manage Remote Therapeutic Monitoring and other program coding and billing as needed once they are established. Assist with denials of these programs. Manage Bundled packages set up and billing. Manage invoice creation and billing for patients, schools, or other payers. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Management skills and experience Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the physical activity is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. The employee frequently is required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Travel Some travel is expected for this position. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Associates Degree preferred in related field. Coding certification (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA) required. Leadership experience preferred.
