Position: Coating Inspector – NACE Level ll

Location: Oakland, CA


We are seeking a certified NACE Level II Coating Inspector to support field operations on transportation and public infrastructure projects, including bridges, retaining walls, water tanks, and concrete/steel structures. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with coating specifications and quality standards for civil construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections of protective coating systems on steel and concrete structures
  • Monitor surface preparation (abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, etc.) and coating application in accordance with project specs and DOT standards
  • Utilize tools such as DFT gauges, surface profile comparators, environmental monitors, and holiday detectors
  • Verify environmental conditions and ensure proper curing times and application procedures
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, daily logs, and photographic documentation
  • Coordinate with field crews, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure compliance
  • Support Quality Assurance initiatives and participate in pre-activity meetings
  • Assist with training and oversight of Level I inspectors


Qualifications:

  • NACE/AMPP Level II Coating Inspector Certification (CIP Level 2) – required
  • 1–3 years of coatings inspection experience on civil or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with DOT, ASTM, and SSPC standards for coatings and corrosion protection
  • Strong reporting/documentation skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check


Compensation:

$48/hr-$72/hr

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
