FCC is currently seeking a CNC Setup Technician who will be accountable for setting up CNC equipment for effective, efficient production from all machines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Machine Setup Responsibilities:
· Determine setup priorities and time allotted based on current schedule requirement.
· Obtain setup package (drawings, check sheets, travel cards, tool list, program etc.)
· Log in to appropriate jobs in Epicor.
· Get appropriate fixture and tools from the tool crib attendant. Plan and set in motion fixture and tools for next day set-ups.
· Ensure workstation is free of any existing parts, inform Supervisor if parts are present.
· Ensure appropriately coloured chip bin is in place for material being machined.
· Use setup package to appropriately setup machine for specific job.
· Inform Supervisor of any issues/concerns with setup to remedy so Engineering support can be contacted.
· Proof out first article approval and double check measurements are accurate, full layout of part, complete check sheet, complete all other paperwork.
· Confirm cycle time at 100% operation to ensure it meets quoted time or better. If not, inform supervisor, and work with Engineering to improve time.
· Inform Supervisor prior to submitting to QA Dept. with all appropriate paperwork for blue tag.
· Log out of setup in Epicor indicating setup is 100% complete and log all parts.
· If blue tag not approved clock into rework on the setup operation.
· Ensure all appropriate hand tools and checking tools are in place for production.
· Instruct Operator on how to appropriately prep parts, load parts, clamp, check parts, in-process checks and unloading, safety features of the job and what to be aware of in dealing with a specific part.
· Review schedule and cover operating the machine until an Operator is available if required.
· Complete all operator duties as required.
Machine Tear Down Responsibilities:
· Unbolt the fixture from the 4th axis or table, clean all chips and coolant off it, and put back on tool cart and tag fixture appropriately for preventative maintenance, if required.
· Take all tools out of the machine and return to tool cart.
· Return tool cart, setup package and fixture to the Tool Crib Attendant.
· Complete the fixture tear down tag and inform Supervisor of any issues that may need to be communicated to Engineering Support.
Leadership and Training:
· Assist the Supervisor/Manager by coaching/mentoring all team staff in the appropriate and standard setup/teardown and preventative maintenance procedures.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
· Adhere to all departmental safety protocols.
· Ensure machine is safe prior to setting up job.
· Maintain an organized and safe work environment.
· Wear all required PPE.
· Report any concerns regarding departmental hazards to Supervisor/Manager.
· General housekeeping duties.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Knowledge Required to Perform Duties:
· CNC Operator job duties and machining experience.
Certified Machinist
Experienced and knowledgeable with Makino Horizontal Milling Machines
Skills and Abilities Required to Perform Duties:
