Summary

CNC Programmer

Provide programming and some machining expertise in support of the Specialty Tooling Department. Program, set up and potentially operate machinery for the fabrication of die/mold production.

  1. Provide part program code for all Specialty Tooling’s CNC machines by utilizing internal designed Autodesk Inventor drawings, project communications and MasterCAM machining software.
  2. Configure cutting tools required and ensure efficient production of die/molds.
  3. Analyze drawings and design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates.
  4. Occasionally set up and operate CNC equipment.
  5. Monitor output and proper operation of CNC machines. Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quality requirements.
  6. Use AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor to create CAD drawings in either 2D or 3d formats.
  7. Tooling Design: create drawings for form cutters in the making of die/mold tooling.
  8. Provide new project startup support.

Challenges:

The challenge for this position is to get maximum product throughput to meet or exceed customer specifications. The demand for dies exceeds the function’s capacity to produce. It is therefore critical that the function achieve maximum output.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience in machine shop and CNC mill operations equipment
  • 3-5 years’ programming experience on Master CAM or similar software
  • Must have a proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming
  • Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and be able to select tooling and machining resources for manufactured die/molds
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (+/- 0.002” tolerances) to inspect your own work
  • Minimum high school degree
  • Trade school or Associates degree or certificate in related field preferred
  • Strong communication, mathematical and decision making skills
