PGI Steel is looking to expand its programming department and has an immediate need for a CNC Programmer at our Birmingham location. The ideal candidate is someone with prior machining and programming experience, who understands how to take a part from the idea stage/solid model/drawing to a finished product. Applicants should have experience with CAD/CAM programs, such as SolidWorks/SolidCAM and GibbsCAM. Five years running a CNC machine is recommended. Prefer candidates that have a strong understanding of Fanuc controls and the ability to free-hand simple programs at the controls, should the need arise. Experience with premium carbide tools and modern machining strategies such as dynamic milling is preferred. Strong math skills, computer skills, and Microsoft Office are a must. The candidate must have a strong open minded work ethic, organization skills, verbal communication skills, time management and the ability to work with a technical sales team, machinists and customers. Typical parts produced are large plates along with weldments and fabrications.
