Summary

Flynn Group of Companies is currently looking for a CNC Operator for Metal Panels to support our Vancouver Branch located in Surrey, BC (Office Location – 19175 22 Ave, Surrey BC, V3S 3S6), reporting to the Facilities Operations Manager.

This is a weekend shift role, operating from 12 hours per day 3 days per week (6AM-6PM, Friday Saturday and Sunday).

A day in the life

  • Operate a 4 or 5 axis CNC machine with focus on Safety and Productivity
  • Ensure the machine operates optimally by using your experience plus your eyes and ears on preventing machine damage
  • Set up tool and work offsets as well as modify program parameters on the controller
  • Maintain tool inventories and proactively recommend replacements promptly
  • Participate in the maintenance of the CNCs by communicating with the Equipment Maintenance Team promptly
  • Participate in troubleshooting CNC programming challenges as they arise
  • Record daily achievements versus targets and perform required QA/QC inspections
  • Log and communicate daily performance results and machine observations
  • Provide training to potential operators
  • Document and share lessons learned and best practices to the rest of the team

What We Are Seeking

  • 4+ years of machining experience as a primary operator of a multi-axis CNC
  • Experience with panel fabrication CNCs such as an Onsrud (machine brand) or similar large flat bed router systems
  • Strong knowledge of machine software such as Mastercam or XCAM
  • Knowledge of architectural panel systems (metal and composites) is a big advantage
  • Strong focus on details, precision, and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Above average knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
  • Comfortable with using hand tools for hand-cutting and other similar shop tasks
  • Experience with operating an overhead crane is an advantage
  • Physically fit for the work environment including standing for extended periods of time
