Summary

Role And Responsibilities

This is the fourth & highest level of our CNC machining center operators.

The CNC Operator responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

  • Without technical supervision performs the most complex machining and fitting of all kinds of parts, tools, and machines in support of production operations or job shop machining. Lays out work from prints, sketches, and written specifications.
  • Performs advanced setup operations on the majority of available Woodsage CNC machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
  • Determines operation sequences. Uses skillfully all machinists' hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Familiar with working properties of all materials pertinent to Woodsage e.g., DOM and ERW tubing. Programs CNC machines while making parts. Fits and assembles where necessary.
  • At this level machinists serve as technical resources for less experienced machinists.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • 5+ years of combined training and prior CNC experience in a Production environment.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of multiple program formats involving combinations of operations such as profile and contour milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, etc.
  • Ability to perform maintenance and major repairs to equipment that would typically need to be done by a machine manufacturer technician.
  • Requires a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and advanced shop mathematics.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of manufacturing techniques and familiarity with computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tool operating procedures.
  • Can use and apply more advanced shop mathematics such as basic trigonometry.
  • Must have the skill to read prints, decipher tolerances, proven capability with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gages, vision systems, etc.
  • Must have positive attitude and ability to take complete ownership of area.
  • A work history that supports a good to excellent attendance record.
  • Able to work well in a team-oriented work environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, Standing, Sitting Kneeling (Frequently).
  • Lifting, Carrying up to 50 pounds (Occasionally).
  • Temperatures (Occasionally).

Additional Notes

  • May require overtime with little notice before or after normal work hours or weekends.
