Role Summary:
The CNC Machine Set-Up and Operator will play a key role in the production and optimization of precision mechanical components for Clarapath’s advanced electro-mechanical device, SectionStar™. This role requires hands-on expertise in CNC machine operation, set-up, and maintenance, supporting a cross-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians while ensuring the consistent production of high-quality parts that meet exacting standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating 5-axis CNC mills and performing in-process quality checks. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-precision manufacturing environment and is eager to contribute to a rapidly growing medical technology company.
Responsibilities:
Fully set-up and operate 5-axis CNC mills to manufacture 100+ unique parts
Read and interpret blueprints and/or job orders to determine product specifications
Pick and install appropriate tooling based on set-up sheets and job specifications
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC machines
Use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges necessary to perform machining operations
Direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and workpiece.
Work with close tolerances (25 microns / .001”) and fine finishes
Inspect machined and finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision hand tools to ensure conformance to blueprints and job order specifications; accurately document all inspection results
Visually and audibly observe machine operation to detect any irregularities, such as dull tools or excessive vibration; correct problems as necessary
Perform minor machine maintenance as required or directed
Confer with engineers, production personnel, and programmers to resolve machining or production issues
Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety procedures and company policies
Lift parts and materials weighing 30 pounds or more
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of training and experience; Haas interface experience is preferred but not required
Knowledge of machine shop operations, tool selection, and machine settings
Solid understanding of blueprint reading, G-code interpretation, and process sheet comprehension
Proficient with basic hand tools and measuring instruments (ex: micrometers, calipers, rulers, gauges)
Capable of producing precision components with tight tolerances and fine surface finishes
Demonstrated commitment to workplace cleanliness, organization, and continuous improvement
Experience in a self-directed work environment with time management and prioritization skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
Receptive to feedback and guidance from more experienced team members
Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced production environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
