Position Summary:
This senior role reports to the Manager, IT Infrastructure (Toronto) and is responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s complete IT infrastructure—including on-premise systems, cloud environments, IoT platforms, and communication services.
The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging technologies and security practices, brings deep technical expertise, and is comfortable leading within a collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, a detail-oriented approach, and a commitment to maintaining a secure, high-performing infrastructure are essential. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and sustaining smart building IoT infrastructure, connecting staff and sites across an intelligent portfolio of automated operations and community-focused services.
This role is based in Vancouver, B.C., with a minimum requirement of three days per week in-office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior member of the IT Infrastructure team, acting as platform owner and subject matter expert (SME) for cloud and on-premise systems.
- Lead technical aspects of infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance with security standards.
- Oversee the availability, reliability, and security of servers, storage, backup systems, cloud services, and communications platforms.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior support specialists.
- Liaise with vendors and third-party providers to resolve issues and implement enhancements.
- Maintain detailed documentation of the infrastructure environment and support software licensing compliance.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend infrastructure solutions and services, including emerging cloud and on-prem technologies.
- Participate in the infrastructure on-call rotation and perform required maintenance during off-hours.
- Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation efforts.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams and partners to ensure performance, security, and service-level compliance.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field, with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure roles.
- Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure Architect, DevOps Engineer, and ITIL.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft Azure services (IaaS and PaaS), security and SIEM, networking, backups, and update management.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools for scalable and efficient deployments.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server OS, Microsoft Infrastructure Services, hypervisors, databases, scripting, and backup/recovery technologies.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and Security & Compliance Center.
- Proven experience leading Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and execution, including developing playbooks and conducting DR tests.
- Experience with AWS cloud services (especially web hosting) is a strong asset.
- Experience working with Operational Technology (OT), and within property management or construction sectors is an asset.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to clearly convey complex technical issues, offer recommendations, and proactively contribute ideas.
- A critical thinker who brings forward solutions, alternatives, and a collaborative mindset.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
