The Tech@Lilly Enterprise Automation organization is seeking a cloud DevOps automation engineer to join the Tech Enablement team. The Tech Enablement team addresses enterprise IT business needs by supporting the necessary transformations in people, processes, and culture through innovation that accelerates the development of automation solutions. What You’ll Be Doing

In this position, you will engineer automation solutions that optimize IT infrastructure and operations and other central services by developing scalable infrastructure automation and developing reusable automation patterns between enterprise platforms. As a specialist in cloud, network and infrastructure engineering, you’ll ensure these projects provide value, functionality, and results.

How You’ll Succeed

  • As a cloud DevOps engineer, your experience in cloud orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), IT Service Management (ITSM), DevOps, CI/CD, observability, identity and access management will allow you to deliver IT service transformation projects with global impact.
  • By embracing agile methodologies and fostering innovation, you will use object-oriented programming principles to build creative, reusable automation solutions to deliver timely results.
  • As a superb communicator with strong interpersonal skills, you will work and collaborate effectively on a global team to define, design and deliver new features.
  • By maximizing your engineering expertise, attention to detail and proactivity, you will build long-lasting automation solutions ensuring maximum code quality, optimal performance, responsiveness, and scale.
  • Using your problem-solving skills, you will strive to quickly identify and correct bottlenecks and analyze complex technical issues, ensuring automation processes and applications adhere to system design lifecycle standards at Lilly.


What You Should Bring

  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud operations in multi-cloud environment, architecture with advanced skills in one or more cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure or GCP).
  • Ability to build and improve upon DevOps and CI/CD pipelines (ex. GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) for infrastructure deployment automation.
  • Proficiency in implementation of infrastructure monitoring and logging with tools such as CloudWatch and Splunk.
  • Experience in design, development, and deployment of scalable containerized solutions (ex. Docker, Kubernetes) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as CloudFormation or Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) (ex. ServiceNow) and scrum methodology (ex. Jira)and ability to apply this knowledge to automate common IT service requests, changes and incident resolutions, leading to higher self-serviceability and lower IT ticket volume.
  • Consistent track record of high quality, agile focused, team-based solution delivery.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and ability to communicate and work closely with other teams, including development, network, and security teams, to drive continuous infrastructure and IT service improvements.
  • Proactive approach to create comprehensive documentation of infrastructure, automation scripts, and troubleshooting guides. Shown ability to deliver training to the support team as needed.


Basic Qualifications

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related technical field
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud or infrastructure and operations (I&O) automation including:
    • Experience with cloud (AWS and Azure)
    • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation or Ansible
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar)
    • Experience in containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift Container Platform
    • Experience in workflow automation and scripting within ServiceNow and Jira
    • Strong knowledge of networking, security, and hybrid cloud architectures
    • Experience with PowerShell for automation and scripting
Good To Have

  • Experience working in enterprise IT environments with hybrid cloud setups
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch and/or Splunk).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes for request, change and incident management
