Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Administrator specializing in Microsoft Fabric to join our dynamic data team. This role requires a highly skilled individual to oversee the management and optimization of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure data quality, support data pipelines, maintain metadata documentation, and drive the overall effectiveness and performance metrics of our data products within the data mesh architecture.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Quality Monitoring and Management:
  • Implement processes and tools to ensure consistent data quality across all data assets.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data inconsistencies, anomalies, and quality issues in collaboration with data owners.
  • Develop and enforce data validation and testing protocols for data pipelines.
  1. Data Pipeline Support:
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure continuous data flow and processing.
  • Work closely with data engineers to optimize pipeline performance and resolve operational issues.
  • Establish robust alerting and monitoring systems to proactively address pipeline failures.
  1. Metadata Documentation:
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of metadata, including data lineage, definitions, and classification.
  • Collaborate with data stewards to ensure alignment between business terminology and technical metadata.
  • Develop automated solutions for metadata management and updates where feasible.
  1. Effectiveness and Metrics of Data Products:
  • Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of data products and the data mesh.
  • Regularly review and report on metrics to stakeholders, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the design and implementation of data products that align with business needs.
  1. Data Mesh Optimization:
  • Act as a custodian for data mesh principles, fostering a culture of decentralized data ownership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote the scalability and efficiency of the data mesh infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and recommend enhancements to data mesh architecture based on evolving business and technical requirements.
  1. Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure all data systems and processes adhere to relevant regulatory and security standards.
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement best practices for data encryption, access control, and auditing.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric and related tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Dataverse).
  • Proven experience with data quality management, metadata documentation, and pipeline support.


Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and data architecture.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other programming languages for data management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Familiarity with data mesh concepts and principles is a significant advantage.
