Job Summary: The Clinical Support Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to patients and care teams primarily via phone and electronic communication. This role evaluates, assists, and documents patient needs, medical questions, and prescription refill requests. The Clinical Support MA participates as a member of an interdisciplinary care team to enhance patient experience, ensure continuity of care, and improve operational efficiency. This role supports clinical functions within CHA’s Family Medicine scope and is expected to meet all responsibilities of a standard Medical Assistant in addition to specialized clinical support tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
Thorough knowledge of medical office practices, patient care procedures, and basic clinical protocols.
Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10-CM coding and documentation standards.
Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Practice Management (EPM) systems.
Competency in phone-based patient care, including patient education, triage, and coordination.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
Customer service orientation with an ability to navigate complex patient interactions with professionalism and empathy.
Skilled in basic clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, immunization administration, and use of diagnostic equipment when needed.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills required.
Education And Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required; OR five (5) years of recent Medical Assistant experience in lieu of certification.
National certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred; required within 6 months of hire if not already certified.
Minimum of one (1) year recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in a family practice or primary care setting.
Current CPR certification required.
Experience with community health or underserved populations preferred.
