Our client is seeking a Client Project Manager to lead the delivery of a National Heritage Lottery Fund-supported capital project focused on the restoration and renewal of a Grade II* listed historic building.

This is a key role, responsible for managing and coordinating all project activity during the development stage.

About the Project

The site is an architecturally significant Grade II* listed church associated with renowned architects and forms an important part of London’s Georgian and Victorian heritage.

Following successful participation in previous National Lottery Heritage Fund programmes, our client is now ready to deliver a visionary project to restore the historic ceiling—damaged in 2018 and temporarily repaired in 2019—and bring renewed public life and engagement to the space. The restoration of this key architectural feature will act as a catalyst for a broader programme of renewal.

Capital development plans during the proposed 24-month development phase include:

  • Urgent repairs to heritage features
  • Enhancement of public spaces
  • Creation of new facilities
  • Audience development and engagement initiatives
  • Activity, business, and interpretation planning

The Role

As Client Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in realising the vision for the site, transforming it into a welcoming, active, and inclusive space that reaches diverse and traditionally under-served communities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating all project activities in the development stage
  • Overseeing a team of consultants and the Design Team
  • Leading procurement of professional services and consultants
  • Managing the project budget and ensuring robust risk management
  • Providing project assurance to the Project Board
  • Promoting the project through active stakeholder engagement

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent experience and a recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM, RICS, PRINCE2)
  • Proven experience managing heritage-focused capital projects over £3m, preferably Heritage Fund-funded
  • Strong understanding of specialist conservation techniques and investigative methods
  • Skilled in procurement processes and writing tender reports
  • Knowledge of London’s heritage and a working familiarity with the Church of England
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
