Responsibilities

The Clerical Assistant will serve as a key member to our busy Workers’ Compensation law office of remote Attorneys and staff. This individual will be responsible for assisting 6-7 Attorneys and staff with day to day clerical duties. The Clerical Assistant will communicate with the Attorneys, business partners, courts and opposing counsel in litigated matters. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Monitor e-faxes and the electronic service mailbox.
  • Schedule and/or reschedule of depositions.
  • Schedule and/or reschedule of cross-examinations.
  • Schedule and/or reschedule agreed medical evaluations (AME) .and panel qualified medical evaluator (PQME) appointments .
  • Serve minutes of hearing (MOH) and notice of hearing.
  • Successfully handle lien packets .
  • Comply with orders to produce records from a non-medical lien claimant.
  • Respond to subpoenaed records.
  • Collect and sort medical records.
  • Perform scheduling of informal settlement conferences.
  • Investigate returned mail.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required, a college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of administrative support experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Workers’ Compensation, legal support experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of legal terminology is a plus.
  • Working proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to independently navigate a high- volume environment.
  • Demonstrated efficiency, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines, set priorities and effectively handle shifting priorities.
  • Eagerness to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Use diplomacy in written and verbal communication with internal/external clients.

  • Work Arrangements: This Role has a Remote Work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into the Brea CA office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$42,560 - $63,840
