An Icahn Charter School teacher is dedicated to student achievement and holds an unwavering belief that all students are capable and will experience high levels of success. Our teachers are supported in becoming experts in their craft through intentional professional learning experiences, coaching and hands-on learning and observation. Teachers use thoughtful planning practices and flexibility in the classroom to personalize the learning experiences for their students and are invested in the progress of each individual student. We seek a highly qualified educator who is committed to continual learning in order to elevate their own planning, instructional and pedagogical practice in service of students. Core Responsibilities:
* Ability to create an active learning environment through which students are engaged, safe and challenged to take academic risks
* Design and facilitation of lesson and long term objectives that are rigorous, clear, measurable and standards-aligned
* Maintain and communicate high academic and personal standards for all students
* Recognize and flexibly implement innovative pedagogical strategies in order to ensure all students are engaged in meaningful and authentic tasks designed to develop their understanding
* Plan for and implement differentiated methods of instruction, facilitation and access to resources to spark higher order thinking and high levels of reflection in students
* Adapt curriculum as needed to provide individual, small group, and/or direct IEP-aligned instruction as to meet the needs of individual or sub-groups of students
* Co-create and consistently reinforce standards for student behavior and support students in reflectively developing self-accountability strategies
* Monitor student behavior with adherence to school and administration policies and code of ethics
* Communicate consistently and effectively with colleagues, parents and families and administration staff
* Develop and use a variety of assessments that frequently measure student progress and provide multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate progress toward grade level standards
* Develop and ensure student understanding of assessment and evaluation criteria aligned to student work and assessments
* Consistently provide actionable, timely and impactful developmental feedback to students
* Thoughtfully gather and analyze data to inform instructional decisions and support developmental conversations with students, families, and the school community
* Maintain accurate and consistent student records
* Shared responsibility of grade level and school-wide activities
* Actively engage in building and administration wide professional learning and coaching opportunities
* Willingness to perform additional duties as necessary
Requirements & Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree
* Master's degree (preferred)
* NYS Certification
* Candidates with dual certification (Students with Disabilities, Mathematics, Literacy, etc.) will be given priority
* Teaching experience (preferred)
* Knowledge and background related to NYS Learning Standards
* A belief in and commitment to high levels of student achievement
* A belief in and commitment to continuous professional learning and development
