JOB SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer at MetalSpaces is responsible for the structural design, analysis, and validation of custom-engineered architectural metal systems including façades, garage screens, louvers, canopies, and decorative metal features. This role involves close collaboration with the Design, Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams to deliver structurally sound and aesthetically refined solutions that meet both client expectations and applicable codes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform structural analysis and calculations for metal structures and architectural systems using applicable design codes (ASCE, AISC, etc.).
2. Develop structural design packages including calculation reports, connection details, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling.
3. Interpret architectural and design intent into viable structural solutions for custom metal structures.
4. Review and assist in the development of shop drawings and fabrication details to ensure structural integrity.
5. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (design, estimating, manufacturing) to validate feasibility and efficiency of structural solutions.
6. Support field and installation teams with technical expertise and construction-related guidance.
7. Review third-party engineering reports and incorporate feedback into final design deliverables.
8. Work with vendors and material suppliers to specify appropriate materials for strength, longevity, and visual intent.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. MTech - Structural (REQUIRED).
2. Minimum 3 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in architectural metals or façade systems.
3. Strong understanding of design and analysis of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel structures.
4. Proficient in FEA tools such as STAAD. Pro, ANSYS, or equivalent.
5. Proficient in AutoCAD.
6. Working knowledge of international and U.S. structural codes (AISC, ASCE, IBC, etc.).
7. Ability to clearly communicate technical information and collaborate across departments.
8. Strong organizational and documentation skills.
9. Experience with architectural design intent translation and structural coordination.
