Summary

Our office in Merritt Island, FL is seeking an Sr. Civil Engineer to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary project team working on the space coast of Florida. You will be performing work for federal clients across the U.S. and abroad, as well as commercial aerospace clients.

The Senior Civil Engineer functions as the civil technical lead on dynamic, multi-disciplinary project teams. Work tasks will vary and require flexibility and versatility in the civil and environmental engineering field.

Examples of the type of work to be performed include:

  • Civil site design (greenfield and retrofit)
  • Water resource management planning, design and permitting
  • Gravity and pressure utility systems
  • Environmental assessments and permitting
  • Minor structural (retaining wall and equipment foundations/pedestals) design
  • Facility condition assessments and capital asset management planning
  • Detailed cost analyses and material take-offs of a variety of building types and site infrastructure throughout the US and other countries
  • Construction management/administration for ongoing construction efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Perform multi-discipline design management, responsible for leading the civil design team and leading coordination efforts between all project disciplines (architecture, structural, MEP, survey, geotechnical, utility locates). Provide clear technical communication with Project Managers, teammates, subcontractors and clients. Identify cost and schedule impacts to the Project Management Office and assist in developing resolutions.
  • Technical Lead and/or Engineer of Record for the civil and environmental scope of work. Responsible for discipline-specific technical control of design products while leading other civil and environmental engineers and designers.
  • Design products include but are not limited to construction drawings, specifications, reports (assessment, analysis, data, calculations, etc.), permit application packages and cost estimates for civil and environmental scopes of work.
  • Oversee civil and environmental scopes of work: pavement, foundations/equipment pads, solid waste, stormwater/hydrology, geotechnical, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection and transmission, hazardous material compliance, industrial wastewater,
  • Construction Administration: review and respond to construction submittals, shop drawings and RFIs; review construction testing/verification/startup data against drawings, specifications, permits, regulations and standards; assemble and submit State and local certification packages, such as DEP/DEQ/WMD; oversee as-built drawing production from contractor redlines and RFIs; and develop and/or review stormwater pollution prevention plans, maintenance of traffic plans, groundwater monitoring plans, industrial wastewater sampling plans; and bacteriological sampling plans.
  • O&M Engineering: perform facility condition assessments; consult for hazmat and hazardous waste management/compliance; develop or oversee Environmental Site Assessments, including environmental and biological assessment; perform pavement and utility inspections.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of civil and environmental department standards, procedures, templates, including department specific training (lunch and learns), drafting standards/templates/details, calculations and specifications.
  • Participate in or lead proposal writing efforts, including interpreting requests for proposal/quotes and statements of work; determining and pricing the appropriate civil and environmental level of effort; writing proposal letters with scope clarifications, assumptions and exclusions; coordinating civil and environmental scope with teammates (internal and external); writing geotechnical, surveying, utility locate and hazardous material sampling scopes of work for subcontractor services; drafting pre-bid requests for information; assembling resume and project past performance writeups; and coordinating conceptual design details and quantities for construction contractor primes (design-build).

Qualifications

  • BS Civil Engineering degree required from an ABET-accredited program
  • 15+ years of professional Civil Engineering experience
  • PE Certification required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail applications

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid/Unrestricted FL driver license

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

  • Must be a US Citizen for Security Clearance requirements.
  • Active/Interim or ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment

  • Some work is performed in an office environment.
  • Field investigations and construction support require regular trips to operating facilities and active construction sites.

Travel

The position is based out of Merritt Island, FL location. Willingness to travel to locations where work is to be performed (30-50% travel requirement).
