This is a REPOST - All applicants must REAPPLY Requirements have been UPDATED Summary or Brief Description of Work:  The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation.  The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals. The primary purpose of the Engineering Services Division is to direct, plan and manage all engineering related projects for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Primary programs include in house design, permitting, construction, capital improvements programs for the agency as well as facilities management.  The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is accepting applications for an Engineer II for our Engineering Division.  The primary purpose of this position is to provide engineering services for the agency with a primary focus on boating access, fishing access and game lands infrastructure. The position will serve as the civil engineering team lead with responsibilities for project assignments, as well as, construction team scheduling. As the team lead the position will evaluate teamwork load to distribute project assignments, help provide initial site and project assessments, make decisions on project feasibility, and determine construction crew scheduling priorities.  This position is responsible for making technical decisions necessary to complete each of the following phases of design: evaluation, conceptual design, preliminary site plans, construction drawings, construction administration, and engineer's estimates.  This position manages and monitors construction progress for projects that they design. Issues change orders and is the final approval authority when the project is complete. This position will function as a key design team member of the design services section and will help the Commission meet its critical objective of providing public water access through its boating and fishing access facilities and ensuring game lands infrastructure is safe, functioning properly and easily accessible.  Engineer II duties include: *  Schematic Design and design development for boating and fishing access areas. * Permit application development and coordination with Regulatory * Construction drawings and grading plans. Material takeoffs & Specifications and Engineer's Estimate * Material takeoffs & Specifications and Engineer's Estimate * Engineering assessment, design and assistance with game lands projects * Bidding of projects not done with in-house WRC staff. A Monday-Friday schedule is associated with this position, including telework.  This position requires travel and includes access to a WRC state vehicle.  This position also has statewide responsibilities, with assignments and projects across the state.  The incumbent in this position will be provided WRC uniforms and assigned a private office at one of the Wildlife Resources Commission offices/depots across the state.   Home-based work may also be considered.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies: * Knowledge of the principles, practices and theories of civil engineering and construction management; * Skill to conceptualize, plan and design projects and facilities; * Experience with construction techniques and project management. Management Preferences: * Registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; * Experience in site development; * Knowledge of requirements pertaining to design, construction, and renovation of facilities; * Technical proficiency in AutoCAD.
