Position: Cisco ACI L2 Network Engineer / Administrator

Locations Opened: Mumbai & Bangalore, India

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cisco ACI L2 Network Engineer to join our dynamic networking team. This position involves configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Layer 2 services within the Cisco ACI architecture. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco ACI and in-depth knowledge of networking fundamentals, particularly at the Layer 2 level. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless connectivity, high availability, and performance of the data center network.

Key Responsibilities:

• ACI Configuration and Management:
• Implement and manage Layer 2 configurations within Cisco ACI.
• Configure Bridge Domains (BDs), Virtual Port Channels (vPCs), EPGs (End Point Groups), and VLANs.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ACI fabric connectivity issues related to Layer 2.
• Manage Layer 2 multicast and broadcast traffic within the ACI fabric.
• Network Design and Architecture:
• Collaborate with network architects to design Layer 2 networking solutions using Cisco ACI technology.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards and best practices for ACI network design.
• Troubleshooting and Support:
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Layer 2 network issues within the ACI fabric.
• Provide tier 2/3 support for network issues and assist with network performance monitoring and optimization.

Integration and Migration:

• Assist with the integration of ACI into existing network infrastructures and the migration from traditional networks to Cisco ACI.
• Ensure compatibility between ACI and legacy network technologies at the Layer 2 level.
• Security and Compliance:
• Implement security policies and practices related to Layer 2 ACI configurations.
• Monitor network traffic for anomalies and enforce security measures.
• Documentation:
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and documentation related to Cisco ACI.
• Maintain accurate records of network changes, configurations, and incidents.

Collaboration & Training:

• Work closely with other IT teams, such as systems and application engineers, to ensure efficient integration of ACI into broader infrastructure.
• Provide training and mentorship for junior team members on Cisco ACI concepts and Layer 2 network configurations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Certifications:

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is a plus.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in networking, with at least 2 years focused on Cisco ACI.
• Strong experience with Cisco ACI fabric, including knowledge of Bridge Domains, Endpoint Groups (EPGs), Contracts, and Policies.
• Hands-on experience with Layer 2 technologies such as VLANs, STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), vPC, L2 Switching, and L2 Multicast.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in Cisco ACI architecture and design principles.
• Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting network issues, particularly Layer 2 and ACI-related problems.
• Understanding of basic security concepts and firewall policies.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ACI multi-site configurations.
• Familiarity with ACI Application Network Profiles (ANP) and Microsegmentation.
• Knowledge of other SDN solutions or overlay networks (VXLAN, NSX, etc.).
• Familiarity with monitoring and management tools like Cisco APIC and ACI Multi-Site Orchestrator.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
