Position Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Law Library's access services functions, which includes manage circulation desk workers and their activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative and Circulation Duties:
* Responsible for the creation of circulation desk staff schedule.
* Responsible for creating and maintaining the library staff master calendar in coordination with the Head of Public Services and the Head of Technical Services.
* Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the University community relating to access services, policies, and procedures.
* Supervise the full-time circulation assistant.
* Either supervise or manage the supervision of the part-time library technicians who are assigned to work at the circulation desk.
* Assign projects as directed.
* Refer questions to appropriate staff.
* Assist in hiring and training new staff.
* Manage circulation, reserves, patron records, and holds module in the Library ILS.
* May be asked to monitor the library study rooms (LibCal) and chat services (LibChat) within SpringShare.
* Supervise the creation of reports, such as for overdue or missing materials, shelf-reading audits, or for checkout totals.
* Collaborate with staff members in charge of student workers and supervise their circulation desk tasks.
* Monitor operation and maintenance of the library's equipment, facility and supplies.
Public Services
* Provide library usage instruction to faculty, students, staff, and public patrons.
* Supervise public spaces.
* May be asked to participate in Collection Development.
* May be asked to assist with research projects.
* Manage Interlibrary Loans.
Professional Activities and Professional Development
* Participate in professional development workshops, seminars, conferences, and other professional activities.
* Provide updates for circulation staff regarding current library trends as it relates to library access services.
* May be asked to participate on library, law school and system-wide committees on approval of the Head of Public Services.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
* Education - A Masters in Library Science is required.
* Experience - Six months to two years (Equivalent combination of education and employment).
Preferred Qualifications
Strong customer service, management skills, and ability to onboard and train staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be a good communicator, well-spoken, and calm. Must be a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned. Must regularly communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates.
Physical Requirements
Job requires repetitively lifting light weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

Monday - Friday 1:20 PM - 9:50 PM
