The Krannert Memorial Library at the University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for a full-time
Day Circulation Assistant. This is a 12-month, non-exempt staff position working 37.5 hours per week with full benefits. This position will oversee the library service desk and is responsible for opening and maintaining the library operations during daytime hours, including covering the service desk, providing general support for Public Services, Reference, Technical Services, and Interlibrary Loan. This position will also maintain the University’s institutional repository.

Summer
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- 1-3 years of customer service experience required
- 1 year of reference, or library school coursework preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- High school diploma/GED
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
Essential Functions
- Exercises supervisory coverage of the library’s portion of the Service Desk(s) and its procedures during assigned working hours, projecting a helpful and friendly attitude toward all patrons.
- Answers directional patron questions and redirects research or technology questions to the appropriate responders.
- Answers to basic reference and research questions
- Oversees student workers who perform Circulation-related duties, such as reshelving books, shifting books, shelf-reading, etc.
- Input student and faculty created content into the University’s institutional repository (UIndy Scholarworks)
- Handles online renewals and document delivery requests.
- Assists with processing the Archives collection as needed
- Works with superiors and colleagues to create policies and procedures for the library’s Service Desk(s).
- Works with superiors and colleagues to ensure constant staffing of the Service Desk(s) during all library open hours.
- Maintains general oversight of all building activity and use during assigned working hours, working closely with colleagues to ensure building security and educational atmosphere are maintained.
- Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s)
- Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in Staff Handbook
- Other duties as required or assigned
