Orion is working with a leading manufacturing company with over 75 years in business that has been a leader in high-performance pressure and flow control systems for decades. They serve critical applications across Defence, Industrial Gas, and Energy sectors globally. With innovation at the core of everything they do, they are now seeking a strategic and technically excellent Chief Engineer to lead their engineering team into the future.

The Role: As Chief Engineer, you will be the technical authority for all engineering functions. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will oversee product design and development, R&D initiatives, engineering standards, and compliance. You will be instrumental in ensuring their solutions remain at the forefront of reliability, safety, and innovation.


Key Responsibilities of the Chief Engineer:


•Being responsible for design reviews.

•Drive innovation and new product development in line with market and customer needs.

•Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and industry standards (ISO, ASME, PED, ATEX, etc.).

•Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, and Sales to align technical solutions with commercial strategy.

•Manage engineering budgets, timelines, and resource planning.

•Act as the technical liaison with global teams and customers.

•Promote continuous improvement through lean engineering and design-for-manufacture principles.


Required Experience & Skills for the Chief Engineer:


•Degree-qualified (or similar) in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Chartered Engineer preferred).

•10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing or process-control industry.

•Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, valves, pneumatics, and high-pressure systems.

•Proven experience in product lifecycle management, from concept to production.

•Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and engineering quality standards.

•Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
