Description Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is recruiting for a Chief Development Officer to join our Executive Leadership team! PPCW is the largest non-profit family planning and reproductive rights organization in Oregon and Southwest Washington. About the Role: The Chief Development Officer (CDO) provides strategic leadership and direction for all fundraising and philanthropic engagement activities across the entire affiliate of Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW), including individual giving, planned giving, campaigns, institutional giving, political giving (via Planned Parenthood Action Oregon), and special events. The CDO serves as a key member of the Organizational Leadership Team (i.e. executive team) and works closely with the President and CEO to grow high-level donor relationships, expand revenue streams, and align fundraising strategies with organizational goals. Required Qualifications: * Minimum of 10 years' experience as a CDO or similar Development Department leader in an environment where development is a strategic partner with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior management. * Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and close six-figure gifts. * Minimum of 5 years' experience managing and leading a team of 5 or more, including other manager and director-level positions * Experience designing and leading Development campaigns. * Culturally responsive and excellent cross-cultural verbal and written communication skills. * Passionate commitment to the mission, vision, and values of PPCW. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and dynamic environment. * Ability to travel to meet with donors and attend events throughout the affiliate (additional travel occasionally required). * Experience and understanding of racial equity; understanding privilege and experience working alongside communities of color and/or immigrant communities. * Committed to reproductive health and rights, defending and increasing access to family planning services and sexuality education, and ensuring access to safe and legal abortion. Preferred Qualifications: * Certified Fund-Raising Executive preferred. * Masters in Non-Profit Administration, Philanthropic Studies, or similar credentials, preferred. * Familiarity with the philanthropic community within PPCW's regional service area, highly preferred. Total Rewards: The full wage range for this position is $187,200 to $227,200 annually. At PPCW we're proud to calculate a wage offer based on candidate experience, rather than negotiate an offer which leads to pay inequity. New hire wage placement typically does not exceed the midpoint of the wage range. Location: This position is hybrid/telework, meaning you will be working both remotely and in-person at a PPCW location and within the community and various settings. Essential Functions: Strategic Planning, Organizational Leadership, & Execution * Develops and leads comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with PPCW's strategic plan. * Partners with the CEO and Board to grow philanthropic revenue to minimum of 25% of the annual budget. * Leads the creation of multi-year fundraising plans, campaign design, and departmental goals that support long-term sustainability and mission impact. * Engages in affiliate-wide strategic initiatives to ensure development strategies are integrated with programmatic and advocacy goals. * Aligns PPCW's philanthropic messaging across all audiences in partnership with the Chief of External Affairs and PPFA. * Leads organization-wide fund development visioning and strategy execution, including campaign planning and implementation. Business Development & Partnerships * Fosters a culture of philanthropy across the affiliate and ensures internal systems and processes support sustainable growth. * Expands and stewards strategic partnerships with Planned Parenthood Federation of America, local community leaders, and institutional funders. * Serves as a visible ambassador for PPCW in external settings including conferences, affinity groups (e.g., PPFA Development Officers' Council), and fundraising events. * Develops and manages personal portfolio of major and principal donors. * Partners with the CEO to support and manage the CEO's donor portfolio and leverage external engagement opportunities. * Newly integrate political fundraising strategies into development planning, in partnership with the Chief of External Affairs/Executive Director of PP Action Oregon (PPCW's 501(c)(4) arm). Leading and Managing the Development Team * Develops, manages, and monitors the Development Department's budget and financial performance. * Tracks progress against fundraising goals through data-driven analysis and regular reporting to the CEO and Board. * Maintains compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, ensuring accuracy of reporting to PPFA and funding agencies. * Leads department-wide evaluation and course correction processes to ensure responsiveness to market trends and organizational needs. * Supports and collaborates with direct reports to oversee development programs and processes. * Creates a positive and collaborative work environment and provides guidance, support, feedback, and encouragement to inspire the Development team to achieve ambitious goals. Driving Innovation * Identifies emerging trends and opportunities to diversify revenue streams and improve donor engagement. * Champions innovative approaches to digital fundraising, donor segmentation, and campaign storytelling. * Pilots new initiatives that engage underrepresented donor groups, leverage technology, and enhance donor experiences. * Develops scalable strategies for engaging new donors and increasing contributions from existing supporters. * Advises the CEO and leadership team on market conditions and innovations that may impact fundraising effectiveness.
