**Chemistry/Physics Lab Manager - Instruction And Classroom Support Technician 4 **

- DESCRIPTION:** The Chemistry/Physics Department at Edmonds College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 4 (Lab Manager) to oversee the efficient and safe operation of our laboratories. A key focus of this role is the preparation, setup, and breakdown of laboratory activities to ensure a productive learning environment for students and faculty.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Prioritize and execute the daily proper setup and breakdown of all laboratory experiments and demonstrations. This includes ensuring all necessary materials, equipment, and reagents are readily available and correctly positioned before lab sessions, and that all items are properly cleaned, stored, and accounted for afterwards.
- Maintain and enforce rigorous laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of all laboratory spaces, including regular cleaning and waste disposal.
- Manage the inventory and ordering of all necessary laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Manage and reconcile the departmental laboratory budget, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Hire and manage student laboratory employees, delegating tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty on lab design, and assist in testing and troubleshooting equipment and/or procedures for various demonstrations and laboratory activities.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of laboratory and demonstration instruments and equipment.
- Instruct students and faculty on the proper and safe use of laboratory equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including relevant industry safety standards, those related to the handling of organic and inorganic chemicals, and the operation of typical and atypical laboratory equipment.
This is a classified staff position that reports to the Dean of STEM.
