Job Summary:


The AES Chemist works in a small-scale lab to conduct experiments on various chemical substances with the goal of developing new products or improving existing ones. Responsibilities include analyzing the chemical composition of materials, preparing and testing compounds using techniques such as chromatography and spectroscopy, and performing quality control tests. The Chemist also collaborates with engineers and scientists to support product and process development, maintains lab equipment, manages inventory, and documents findings through technical reports and specifications.

Job Responsibilities:


  1. Prepare compounds, test solutions and reagents to conduct tests and experiments, then advising and coordinating on test procedures
  2. Determine the relationships of chemical and physical properties, composition, structures and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds using chromatography, spectrophotometry and spectroscopy techniques
  3. Develop, improve and customize equipment, products, formulas, analytical methods and processes
  4. Consult with engineers and scientists on analysis, interpretation and development of tests
  5. Induce reactions to chemical substances with light, energy, heat and chemical catalysts
  6. Document findings in technical papers and reports, preparing specifications and testing standards
  7. Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, making sure that all the technology is working correctly, if it isn’t, troubleshoot the issue or problem. Conduct quality control tests to ensure no compounds or equipment are contaminated
  8. Order laboratory supplies and chemicals, keeping an eye on expiration dates


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering (required)
  • Skilled in basic lab techniques and analytical instruments (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy)
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of lab safety, chemical handling, and quality control standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and work independently in a small team
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience managing lab inventory and supplies
