Summary

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK Candidates for the position must be licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Chapter 74 Programming and Web Development Instructor or have at least 4 years of work experience in a related field, an associate's degree or higher in a related field and/or in the process of obtaining a Chapter 74 Programming and Web Development license. Candidates for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks. Successful candidates will have previous experience working in a technology-based setting. The candidate will be responsible for teaching programs such as Python, Java, C++ and html. Individuals applying for this position will commit to working collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines as required to assist in implementing an academy structure. Candidates will participate in Professional Learning Communities on school-wide department goals and academic-vocational integration activities. Candidates will ensure personal professional growth on a yearly basis with a focus on continuous improvement in student learning. Major Responsibilities: * Implement and plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. * Support the earning and offering of Industry Recognized Credentials (IRC) in the program. * Actively work with Program Advisory Board, local business and industries, and other industry experts for continuous program improvement. * Lead a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. * Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. * Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. * Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. * Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, hours, performance, and the documentation of students using Minuteman's competency tracking system. * Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis. * Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. * Enforce the rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. * Maintain adequate working conditions of all equipment in the classroom/shop facilities * Assist the administration in implementing District goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District. * Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required. * Maintain and improve professional competence. * Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of administration. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION Licensed or the ability to become licensed as a Chapter 74 Instructor by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Programming and Web Development is required. Four years full-time employment experience directly related to Programming and Web Development is required. Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Programming and Web is preferred. Previous experience with a SMS preferred. Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff. Capable of designing, developing and debugging web pages using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The candidate should also be familiar with back-end languages such as (PHP and MySQL). Additional experience should include business-related software. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required. Conditions of employment Equipment Used: Copier, SMART board, computer, phone. Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and move around the Programming and Web Development Lab and adjacent rooms.
