Starting Wage: $18.50 to $23.45 hr. depending on years of relevant experience.
About the Position:
South Lane Mental Health is seeking a new team member to join our Adult Foster Home, the Bohemian Residential Community (BRC). The Foster Home Staff provides daily care and support for the five residents of SLMH’s adult foster home that allows individuals with chronic mental illness to live in the community. Some shifts are compressed 24 hr. shifts, with an 8-hour sleep break each night for a total of 16 hrs. paid for an overnight shift. Some shifts are 8 hours or partial day shifts. This position does require sleeping on site during overnight shifts.

Position Duties:
Provide day-to-day support and life-skill training to clients in a home-like environment, and coordinate client recreational activities, as necessary.
Ensure that the foster home provides a safe and supportive home for clients, including identifying and addressing health and safety topics, and coordinating with team members to identify and implement appropriate strategies for support.
Respond to clients in crisis, including using immediate de-escalation techniques or first aid medical treatment, and/or contacting other resources, as necessary.
Distribute prescribed medications to clients, and appropriately document medication distribution.
Create a home-environment in the BRC, including regularly preparing meals with clients and ensuring appropriate food and meals are available, and performing routine housekeeping and cleaning to ensure a clean environment.
Help maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the home by cleaning during shift hours.
As requested, participate in deep-cleaning activities to prepare for inspections and ensure the ongoing quality of the environment.
Productively coordinate and communicate with co-workers regarding client status and treatment strategies.
Complete all required paperwork, including documentation on client interactions, in a timely manner.
Perform all duties in a respectful and responsible manner, both with clients and coworkers, and in a manner that meets all professional ethical standards.
Actively participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and staff meetings.
Additional duties as requested.
Position Requirements:
Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to pursue certification
Proffered Skills or Experience
Experience working with individuals with Severe Mental Illness or Developmental Difference a plus.
Good customer service skills including patience and the ability to juggle multiple small tasks at a time like cooking and directing resident activities at the same time.
Ability to work compassionately while maintaining healthy professional boundaries with residents.

Ability to interact with people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and abilities.
Ability to work extended shifts of 2.5 days at a time, with on-site sleep breaks
Essential Job Functions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, move, talk, hear, and manipulate equipment, as well as lift and move objects, equipment, and supplies. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Lift up to 40 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must travel using a personal vehicle to locations throughout the community, including client homes.
