The Center for Workforce Initiatives (CWI) at CCD serves as a strategic hub for noncredit education, work-based learning, and community workforce development. CWI delivers programs in Adult Education, Skills Building Training, and Custom Corporate Training-connecting students, job seekers, and workers with upskilling and employment opportunities in high-demand industries. CWI supports employer training partnerships, career exploration activities, and customized education solutions that meet the evolving needs of our regional workforce.
Position Summary
The Career Specialist connects CCD students and noncredit adult learners to valuable career opportunities by coordinating employer engagement and career activities. Reporting to the Career Connected Learning Director, the Specialist helps expand access to opportunities that align with the CCD pathways, particularly in high-demand industries. This role is partially paid through the Year to Career program, which matriculates English Language learners into Healthcare, IT, manufacturing, and construction certificate programs and jobs.
PRIMARY DUTIES
* Adopt current CWI Career Connect roadmaps and CCD's Strategic Plans as guides for Career Connected goals for outcomes.
* Support the development and implementation of work-based learning opportunities through student promotion, faculty input, and employer engagement.
* Assist industry partners to join work-based learning platforms (e.g., Riipen) and other opportunities.
* Coordinate employer participation in events, such as hiring fairs, mixers, panel discussions, and lunch & learns, as well as other exploratory activities, such as job shadows, company site visits, and speaker events.
* Host career exploration & hiring events, in collaboration with Adult Education and Academic Affairs, that align with CCD pathways, academic goals, and industry interests.
* With cross-institutional and external partner collaboration, design and maintain an annual calendar of career workshops and career exploration & hiring events, including milestones required of internal stakeholders, like marketing and academics affairs.
* Document student and employer participation at events to support program reporting.
* Support annual student employment data tracking efforts using internal and external platforms.
* Collaborate on information sharing to support colleagues and cross-institutional data reporting efforts.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by gathering feedback and reporting on event outcomes.
* Lead Handshake (CCD's job posting platform) efforts by curating and editing job and internship listings, supporting employers and students to create profiles, and performing outreach activities as needed to raise awareness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:(Minimum/Required)
* Associates degree or post-secondary certification; Any equivalent combination of related education and experience accepted
Experience: (required/minimum)
* 2+ years of experience managing events
* 1+ years working with employers or industry in a career services, engagement, or sales roles
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (required/minimum)
* Demonstrable success of promotional and outreach efforts.
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Deep understanding of workforce or career services.
* Demonstrated ability in coordinating different stakeholders, like students, employers, vendors, event attendees, and event partners.
* Excellent coordination and organizational skills, including task and time management.
* Meticulous data tracking and record keeping in order to report on outcomes and use data to make recommendations for improvement.
* Comfort using Microsoft Office tools and other technology platforms.
* Comfort with learning new systems (tech or program procedures) and supporting others in using them
Education: (preferred)
* Bachelor's Degree
Experience: (preferred)
* Familiarity with platforms, such as Handshake, Riipen, or a customer relations management system.
* Familiarity with key businesses and networks in IT, Healthcare, Construction, Manufacturing and/or other CCD pathway areas.
* Experience working with adult learners, English language learners, or nontraditional student populations.
* Knowledge of higher education or community college systems, ideally in Colorado
