What is the job about?
Grundfos Water Utility is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager. The CAPEX Business Development Manager’s primary responsibility is to strengthen the Grundfos Municipal business by developing strong and strategic relationships with select consulting engineers and key accounts, driving specification strength within these accounts. The key focus will be to have Grundfos named and preferred with these consulting engineers across our product and application portfolio. The BDM will participate in staff meetings and will contribute to the overall strategies and business direction of the Municipal business unit. This is a Hybrid position if hired in the Houston or Lenexa KS region. If hired elsewhere the role will be remote. The BDM will report to the Area Sales Director – Water Utility/Muni USA & Canada.
Your main responsibilities:
Your background
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with selected key consulting engineering firms, specifically the key decision makers within these firms
- Develop and maintain Grundfos specifications with these firms, with Grundfos being listed in “master specifications” nationally and regionally
- Review project needs developed with these relationships, working with the Grundfos sales teams, partners, applications teams, and project management to develop scopes of supply to win the projects
- Aligns activities with the sales team and partners for appropriate project information sharing, project management, etc.
- Participates with the Business Partner in a sales support role by making sales visits with the Business Partner. Also participates in local and regional trade shows so as to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
- Continually develops knowledge of the business climate, applications and competition for defined geography and accounts.
- Provides training on Grundfos products, applications, and sales processes, and will provide/facilitate training and education to all levels of the sales channel.
- Maintains data related to partners, accounts, and activities, and documents customer interactions. Prepare reporting as needed.
We imagine that you have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or other technical discipline or 5-7+ years of experience in the municipal or pump industry required.
- In-depth knowledge of the Municipal / Water Utility market segment and a general knowledge of the other Grundfos target markets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pumps and pumping systems, rotating equipment including electronically controlled pump systems (VFD, controllers, etc.) used within the Municipal / Water Utility market.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations for all sizes of audiences for both internal and external customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs
