We have a current opportunity for a 3D Designer in Glen Allen, VA with heavy experience using Autodesk Inventor. Will be responsible for the 3D modeling for the substation group.

Qualifications:

• Technical degree/certificate in CAD, Engineering Design, or related field from an accredited institution
• 4+ years of 3-D model and design experience required
• Proficient using Inventor & Autodesk 3D software required
• Experience using CAD software such as Revit, Bently, Vault, MicroStation, Intelligent Design, etc.
• Background in substation or electric utility industry preferred (power generation, transmission, distribution)
• Familiar with Lidar and Laser Scanning Concepts is a plus
• Knowledge of drafting standards, techniques and procedures
• Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details
• Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment
• Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment

Responsibilities:

• Creating substation drawing packages and required documents for electric power substations using Autodesk 3D design software.
• Design of new substation layouts using electrical schematics, bill of materials and equipment specifications.
• Edit and update existing drawings to conform to the company's current acceptable drafting and design standards.
• Complete project lifecycle support to final design and implementation.
• Apply requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code to the design processes.
• Provide expertise and assist team on the use of Autodesk 3D software
