The Buyer/Planner is pivotal in managing purchasing, forecasting, and production scheduling to ensure materials are procured efficiently and align with production demands. By leveraging ERP systems, the Buyer/Planner maintains optimal inventory levels and ensures timely material delivery. Collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams is essential to streamline procurement and scheduling processes, contributing significantly to operational efficiency.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and managing production schedules based on forecasted and actual demand, material availability, lead times, and production capacity across multiple work centers.
  • Managing the timely procurement of raw materials using ERP software and ensuring material availability for scheduled production.
  • Monitoring inventory levels—including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods—and initiating actions to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Creating and releasing work orders and purchase orders in the ERP system while maintaining accurate records of material status.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules, resolve delays, and address material shortages.
  • Coordinating material usage certifications and ensuring all materials meet required quality standards before release to production.
  • Developing, tracking, and reporting on KPIs related to inventory, procurement, and scheduling efficiency.
  • Driving process improvements by implementing lean principles and analyzing performance metrics to optimize operations.
  • Performing administrative tasks related to closing production orders, updating inventory records, and documenting all materials used in production.
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing, demand forecasting, and production planning workflows.


Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 3 (three) or more years of relevant experience in a buying, planning, or materials role within an aerospace manufacturing environment, particularly with FAA or AS9100 quality standards.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems for procurement, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Working experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to determine material needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for working with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders.

  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or similar professional supply chain credential (preferred).
  • Lean Manufacturing certification (e.g., Green Belt or equivalent) (preferred).
