The primary purpose of a Business Systems Analyst is to serve as a vital link between the business's operational needs and technology solutions, ensuring that business systems and processes are optimised to meet the strategic objectives of the organisation. This role involves analysing business requirements, assessing the impact of technology on these requirements, and designing or recommending solutions that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and drive business growth. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, including IT professionals, Global process owners and business leaders, the Business Systems Analyst helps to translate business needs into technical specifications, contributing to the development and implementation of effective business solutions.

In addition to bridging the gap between business and Information Systems (IS), the Business Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in project management, from initial feasibility studies and requirements gathering to overseeing the implementation of technology solutions. They must understand the broader business strategy and ensure that the technology solutions align with this strategy while also being adaptable to changing business environments. By maintaining a deep understanding of both the business processes and the technical landscape, the Business Systems Analyst ensures that the organisation’s technology investments deliver maximum value and support the achievement of long-term business goals.

This role will focus on:

  • Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, input to strategy, drawing up requirements specifications with business stakeholders, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business models, preparing business cases.
  • Work with the Global Process Excellence function to deploy systems that support global business processes and meet local regulatory and statutory needs, ensure alignment of business application portfolio with functional best practices processes.
  • Identifies and flags up regional/global differences for global solutions and manages stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provides support to the service desk and associate analyst for medium and high complexity service desk ticket tickets.
  • Understands the Enterprise Architecture and evaluates to what extent existing and new business processes are in line with / deviate from it.
  • Contributes to the preparation of budget proposals and estimated project workloads relevant to the business area.
  • Provides input into the creation and maintenance of an IS strategy for the function, aligned to the business strategy of the function, and Group Digital & IT strategy.
  • Lead business transformation through the implementation of Digital for Enterprise solutions that cover a range of technologies.
  • Assists the Portfolio Planning Function and/or relevant Project Manager with managing and comparing the global demand plan to the strategic portfolio.
  • Oversees implementation of solutions or liaising with the relevant Solution Architect, considering as necessary any implications of systems considered.
  • Undertakes usability requirements analysis, applying tools and methods to identify the non-functional requirements of users, their characteristics and tasks, and the technical, organisational and physical environment in which the product or system will operate.
  • Undertakes usability evaluations, planning and performing all types of evaluation to assess the usability of new or existing products or services (including prototypes); interprets and presents the results of evaluations.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of the business through an in-depth business understanding of the function and its processes.
  • Provides input into the global Functional business technology strategy ensuring that opportunities for change are understood and exploited for the future benefit of the business.
  • Contributes to implementation plans that is in line with best practice, the IS strategy, the business priorities and the demand plan.
  • Support the development and training of others members of the Business Systems Analyst team
  • Some travel may be required to support the business and projects.


To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience of finance, either through practical experience in an operational finance role or through a Finance Business Analyst Role.
  • Business-facing IT experience in a global environment, preferably with a degree in an IT-related discipline and relevant certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), etc.
  • Proficiency in ERP and CRM systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics365.
  • Extensive and substantial practical experience in interpreting business process management and business metrics.
  • Ability to interpret the business IS and functional strategies, understand the Group operating model, and the implications actions in one area have on other functions.

  • Two or more years in a similar role.

  • Structured way of working and methodical, collaborative approach.
  • High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead or support projects as required.
  • Able to lead or support user training as required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio
  • Working knowledge of applying Business Process Modelling Notation 2 (BPMN2) to process modelling
