Job Title: SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) Upgrade Consultant

Project Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced SAP BusinessObjects Consultant to lead the upgrade of their production environment from BOBJ 4.3 SP1 to 4.3 SP4. The current version, installed over six years ago, is no longer supported by SAP and has exhibited persistent performance issues. The consultant will be responsible for delivering a smooth, efficient, and well-documented upgrade process, ensuring content integrity, high availability, and minimal disruption to business operations.
Responsibilities:
• Assess the existing BOBJ 4.3 SP1 clustered production environment (6 servers: 2 CMS, 2 ADP, 2 Web servers).
• Plan and execute the upgrade to BOBJ 4.3 SP4 in alignment with SAP best practices.
• Oversee installation on new virtual machines running the latest Windows Data Center Edition OS.
• Lead the migration of reports, universes, users, security settings, schedules, and custom content from the legacy environment.
• Coordinate testing, UAT, and validation of custom reporting solutions post-upgrade.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure tight alignment with client timelines and risk controls.
• Create detailed documentation covering the environment, configuration, and upgrade steps.
• Support issue resolution, system tuning, and post-migration health checks.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and handover to internal teams.
• Ensure alignment with SAP support requirements and vendor compliance policies.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects upgrades and administration.
• Proven experience upgrading to SAP BOBJ 4.3 SP4 in a clustered Windows environment.
• Strong understanding of BOBJ architecture (CMS, FRS, WebI Processing Servers, ADP).
• Proficiency with promotion management, lifecycle manager, or other migration tools.
• Familiarity with custom reporting, universes (UNV/UNX), and security framework.
• Experience with Windows Server environments, especially Data Center editions.
• Skilled in performance optimization, fault tolerance, and clustered environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot custom report issues, corrupted objects, and job schedules.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
