About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Director of Business Development who has a proven track record of generating leads and closing deals through platforms like Upwork and others. The ideal candidate should have strong strategic thinking, team leadership capabilities, and hands-on experience with writing proposals, managing client communication, and optimizing bidding processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the end-to-end bidding strategy on platforms like Upwork and similar.
  • Identify high-quality projects and craft compelling proposals to drive conversion.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to set revenue targets and build a strong client pipeline.
  • Monitor performance metrics, win rates, and continually optimize bidding processes.
  • Build and manage a small team of bidders and sales associates as the function scales.
  • Develop repeatable processes for lead generation and onboarding.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business and referrals.


Skills & Experience

  • 4–8 years of experience in business development and bidding for digital/IT/marketing services.
  • Deep knowledge of Upwork's platform policies, algorithms, and client behavior.
  • Strong communication and proposal writing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in consistently winning medium-to-high value projects.
  • Experience in managing international clients and projects.
  • Team leadership and reporting skills are a strong plus.
