This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.
Applications received for this recruitment will be reviewed for Legal Authorization to work in the US. All applicants who pass the Legal Authorization review will be referred to the hiring department for consideration and an initial review of the application.

Salary: $9,142 to $14,625 per month (EM-05, Minimum to Maximum)

Duties Summary
This class reflects responsibility, as a branch chief, for planning, developing, directing, and coordinating economic development activities for a statewide business-industrial development program concerned with the identification and promotion of business development opportunities within the State, the expansion of existing business-industry, the attraction of new business or investment capital to the State, the promotion of products and services, or the development of special events to generate business; and conducting of necessary research to support the functions of the program; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Considerable latitude is allowed in the formulation and implementation of program plans and determination of priorities necessary to the operation of the program. Positions in this class participate in the preparation of legislative proposals and make recommendations for administrative decisions affecting the economic development of the State in assigned areas.

Legal Authorization To Work
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in marketing, business administration, business or commercial law, economics, finance, foreign trade, or a closely related field, which included completion of three semester credit hours in statistics.
The education or experience background MUST have included knowledge of the general principles of economics, business statistical methodology and business management and administration.
Specialized Experience: Five and one-half (5-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience which demonstrated thepossession and application of knowledge of economic development, marketing, and business feasibility research and analysis; product promotion, advertising, and distribution; business practices involving finance, planning, and management; and familiarity with governmental organizations and programs as they relate to business and economics.
Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
Administrative Aptitude: Administrative aptitude rather than actual administrative experience may be accepted. Administrative aptitude will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary administrative aptitudes and abilities.
Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
