Summary

About Palmstreet:

Palmstreet is the #1 live shopping platform for rare plants, handmade crafts, & unique goods. Founded in 2020 by Instagram and Apple veterans, Palmstreet began as a plant identification app and quickly evolved into a trailblazer in live shopping, beginning with plant sellers. Fueled by a passionate, plant-loving community, we rapidly expanded into new categories to better serve our fast-growing audience.

Our vision is to become the “World’s Online Main Street,” bringing the charm of in-person shopping to engaging, social online experiences. Backed by top Silicon Valley VCs and powered by a nimble, empathetic team, we’ve grown our GMV by 500x in the last 18 months.

As we continue shaping the future of social commerce, we’re looking for talented individuals who are excited to grow with us and join our mission.

The Opportunity:

Palmstreet is seeking a motivated and affable Business Development Manager to lead early lifecycle growth for our Plant category for sellers on our live shopping platform.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of social commerce by acquiring and growing top plant sellers—ranging from nurseries and rare plant shops to social-savvy growers— through strategic outreach, onboarding coaching, and early-stage relationship building.

This is a remote role that will report to the GTM Lead and work closely with the Palmstreet GTM, Seller Success/Onboarding and Marketing teams. There is a preference for a Los Angeles or San Francisco based professional who is willing to travel 25% (trade shows, seller visits and team offsites), but open to other locations for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Weekly Prioritization & Seller Touchpoints

This is a full-time role with a focus on high-output seller engagement and acquisition. Expect to spend your time across the following focus areas:

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and recruit high-potential sellers within the plant and gardening sector
  • Set and achieve individual sales targets, revenue growth objectives, and key performance indicators for the plant category
  • Reaching out to new leads through outbound emails, social, calls, visits and DMs
  • Build and deepen relationships with strategic sellers through coaching, performance reviews, and tactical support in their first 90 days on platform
  • Representing Palmstreet at industry trade shows, conventions, and plant community events

Seller Acquisition & Activation

  • Pitch Palmstreet through discovery and closing calls (virtual and in-person) and onboard new sellers from first contact through their debut livestream
  • Manage a pipeline of prospective sellers—including nurseries, boutique growers, and content-driven shops
  • Balance high-touch onboarding for strategic accounts with scaled support for inbound or early-stage sellers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new sellers

Strategic Seller Growth (First 90 Days)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a cohort of key sellers, ensuring they receive the resources, education, and exposure needed to scale
  • Guide strategic sellers through their first 90 days—supporting them with coaching on inventory selection, show formats, pricing strategies, content plans, and community engagement
  • Proactively monitor performance of strategic sellers and intervene with tailored support to help them hit GMV goals

Revenue & Category Growth Ownership

  • Hit clear performance goals:
    • GMV growth across your cohort of strategic sellers
    • Number of new sellers acquired and onboarded
    • Number of strategic sellers activated (i.e., first show)
  • Identify creative ways to source new leads via trade shows, partnerships, referrals, and digital outreach
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, category, and ops to shape growth strategies and campaign participation

Community Engagement & Industry Presence

  • Represent Palmstreet at plant trade shows, conventions, and community events to grow brand awareness and seller relationships
  • Build grassroots connections with plant communities—online and offline—to unlock new seller segments and niches

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in business development, partnerships, or sales—preferably in a marketplace or at early to mid-stage startups
  • Proven ability to successfully manage both outbound sales pipelines and strategic accounts
  • Experience onboarding and enabling sellers in both high-touch and scalable ways
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in tools like Hubspot or similar CRMs
  • Interest in or familiarity with the plant industry is a strong plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for seller visits, trade shows, and events
