Summary

The Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control International Business Development Manager for Romania and Northern/Western Balkans (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia) is a key role given the breadth and value of MFC business in the region and the importance placed on LM's industrial partnerships especially with Romanian companies. This position works to establish the strategy for Romania and the Northern/Western Balkans region and be successful in winning the key programmes plus ensuring program performance and good corporate governance in the different countries.


Working closely with MFC Lines of Business, GBDI, Corporate Functions and LMGA-I, and other LM Business Areas, the MFC Europe Senior Manager for Romania and Northern/Western Balkans will:

  • Build close relationships with the Lockheed Martin customer set and key stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of customer plans and priorities in the region to inform business choices
  • Understand the MFC business environment and trends affecting Lockheed Martin and offer clear advice to MFC lines of business and MFC leadership
  • Contribute to developing effective strategies for growing and maintaining Lockheed Martin/MFC business in the region


The successful candidate will be a proven leader and team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and has a pro-active, customer-centric outlook and a track-record in the Aerospace and Defence sector. Ideally, the candidate has experiences working with the government, and a knowledge base of regional procurement processes would be mandatory. The ability to be flexible in responding to changing requirements and environments, and to interact with individuals at the most senior levels in government and industry is essential. Excellent communication skills are a must; both to provide regular written reports for an internal readership as well as to clearly communicate LM's strategy in Romania and the Northern/Western Balkans region to stakeholders in a succinct and compelling way.


Required skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Fluent in Romanian and English, written and verbal; a third regional language would be a strong addition
  • International business and customer relations experience within Romania and at least one other country in the region of responsibility
  • A good understanding of the Romanian and regional defence market and customers’ business requirements
  • Experience of representing a brand and communicating clearly both within the company and to customers and stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills; including professional user of MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • The ability to identify and communicate new business opportunities for MFC
  • The ability to build and sustain a network of government customer and commercial relationships
  • Experience in influencing international customer teams comprised of difference functions towards achieving country as well as regional strategies


Responsibilities include:

  • Enabling delivery of LMMFC’s regional strategy by supporting the MFC lines of business (LOB’s) to achieve LM's goals to win key programmes in the region
  • Promoting and representing the LM brand and values to Romanian/regional customers and stakeholders in the aerospace and defence sectors at the highest levels and key events in the region
  • Providing MFC leadership and lines of business with a clear understanding of changing customer needs and expectations in terms of capabilities, technologies, requirements and their impact on capture / contract content and delivery. Specifically, supporting the MFC LOB Business development teams’ strategies, long-range plan development, customer engagements and relationship management
  • Contributing to the MFC creation, development and sustainment of industrial partnerships and alliances in the region
  • Coordinating regional and related in-country government relations activities in support of LMMFC and OneLM strategic aims and in lockstep with LM Governmental Affairs
  • Advocating for Lockheed Martin's position and interests through active membership of key industry organisations as well as sponsorship planning with organisations of interest
  • Support MFC’s engagement in regional tradeshows, conferences and branding events
