Qualifications JOB SUMMARY The Business Development Manager position reports to the Assistant Director of Workforce Services and is accountable for cultivating, growing, and actively maintaining lasting partnerships with employers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to support workforce development and transitional employment programs including contracts with Alameda Probation, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and the San Francisco Back2Work program in partnership with CalTrans. They will conduct outreach to area businesses, participate in local business and community networks, and develop a menu of services to support the hiring process in Bay Area businesses. They will provide assistance to job readiness/placement services to workforce clients. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop relationships with a wide range of diverse employers to secure jobs, interviews, placement, retention, and ongoing services with a particular focus on supporting job seekers who are formerly incarcerated or currently on probation or parole * Works directly with probationers of the Alameda Probation Department and other local service providers to plan for employment opportunities for clients * Cultivate and establish mutually beneficial relationships with Bay Area businesses to secure ongoing employment opportunities for Five Keys Schools and Program's participants * Research and connect with industries friendly to workers with barriers, who offer living wage jobs and opportunities for advancement * Obtain formal agreements with Transitional Employment employers for the Alameda Probation Keys to Work program and manage reimbursements and incentive payments in coordination with a designated finance associate at Five Keys * Lead outreach and engagement planning and activities, with direction from the Assistant Director of Workforce Programs * Initiate and maintain personal contacts with a variety of businesses and industry representatives, including those involved in the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, and job placement/training agencies to promote employment pathways for Participants * Create, support, and/or maintain an Employer Database (Apricot), which identifies key employer contacts, industries, or sectors, and job seeker placements with identified employers. As well as a list of open job opportunities * Collaborate with the regional Workforce Development Boards and American Job Centers of California and other job placement providers to leverage funding, tax incentives, training, and other resources. * Generate job leads that match the qualifications of Five Keys participants, including warm leads through online job boards and other relevant sources * Actively help identify and manage job announcements for various Five Keys job boards with weekly updates * Attend job fairs to network with employers, and collaborate with the Workforce Development Board, Chambers of Commerce, and East Bay Economic Development Alliance to locate potential Transitional Employers partners * Organize and manage regional employer job fairs with a focus on our reentry workforce development programs * Develop Business Relations tools for Five Keys reentry and workforce programs * Research and share updates on relevant tax credits and incentives for employers who hire formerly incarcerated individuals * Research and share relevant labor market indicators to help inform our career navigators and job seekers in the Bay Area * Partner with Career Navigators to actively engage participants in their job placements * External liaison representing Five Keys in the business community; providing workshops, training and other support for businesses * Collect data from employers related to job retention, including job requirements and skills; and match job skills with applicant qualifications * Reach out to the Department of Rehabilitation and other supportive employment agencies, such as the programs at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley, or The ARC of the East Bay, to identify employment pathways for people with disabilities * Attend required professional development trainings for Five Keys managers and program leaders * Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS * General understanding of workforce development services and programs in the San Francisco Bay Area * Advanced proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases * Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information * Ability to effectively and efficiently work from home and independently, with high levels of self-accountability when applicable. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's Degree in (MA degree highly preferred) in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, or a closely * A minimum of two years' experience in Workforce Development required * Career Development Facilitation (CDF) certification preferred * Previous re-entry experience preferred * Equivalent combination of education and experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements, when needed * Frequent talking and hearing conversations * Long periods of walking, sitting at a desk and/or computer station * Lifting items that weigh up to 25 lbs.; reaching, bending, carrying and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS This position is contingent upon: * Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation) * Successfully obtaining jail clearance for positions working in county jails or probation locations * Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to hire date are acceptable WORK ENVIRONMENT * Moderate to high noise level * Work environment varies from site to site * Some personal safety risk working in underserved communities * Must be willing and able to travel throughout the area to community sites, and travel county-wide to various locations or meetings as needed * Up to 30% travel to Five Keys locations throughout Alameda County as needed GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES At Five Keys, we understand that when our employees grow, the agency has a greater capacity to thrive and accomplish its mission.
